You are just 4 simple steps away from becoming a Bankee Pioneering School!

Schools can apply using the link above.
All applicants will be invited to attend an orientation session (to be attended by a representative from the school).
Applications will undergo a thorough evaluation by the Bankee team, followed by an evaluative visit to the schools.
Accepted schools will be placed on the pipeline for the onboarding process that will take place in August-September 2024.

The selection process ensures that participating schools are ready
and committed to implementing the Bankee financial literacy
program effectively.

Once the evaluation is complete, selected schools will be officially invited to join as Bankee Pioneering Schools for the academic year 2024/2025.

What is Bankee?

  • Bankee is an innovative financial literacy program targeting elementary students in public and private schools in Kuwait.

Are there financial costs needed to be covered by the school in order to run Bankee?

  • Bankee is a free program that is implemented in schools. The National Bank of Kuwait will cover all the costs pertaining to the program, which include:
  • Digital platform and technology support.
  • Training and development courses for teachers.
  • Bankee’s bank, store and toys.
  • Prints and virtual currency.
  • Any and all other requirements required to run and apply Bankee in schools.

Has Bankee been launched before?

During the 2022/2023 academic year, we piloted the program in 8 public and 3 private schools across elementary and middle school levels. The following year, 2023/2024, it was successfully launched in 30 elementary schools, both private and public. Between 2022-2024, we have worked with more than 16,380  students and 2,981 teachers across 36 schools.

How many schools will participate in Bankee?

Bankee was launched in 11 schools during the 2022/2023 academic year, expanded to 30 schools in the 2023/2024 academic year, and now applications are open for 60 seats allocated for the 2024/2025 academic year.

What are the components of Bankee?

  • Bankee consists of four main components, which are:
  • Digital Platform
  • Bankee Virtual Currency (Bankoz)
  • Bankee Account specific to each student 
  • Room designated for Bankee which includes: Bankee Store and Bank

What is the Bankee Platform?

It is a simple digital platform that is available in both English and Arabic. The teacher uses the platform during class to distribute bonuses and fines into the students’ account.

What makes up the Bankee Store?

  • The Bankee Store is a physical store where students have the opportunity to purchase toys, items or privileges using the virtual currency, Bankoz. 
  • Tangible items such as toys and others may be purchased from the store.
  • Privileges: Benefits that the student can purchase from the store and use at school, like: free dress day, have a class outdoors.
  • Facilities: Renting school facilities, such as a football field, and a cinema.

How is Bankee run at school?

  • It is managed as a new activity at school
  • Bankee is run by team of:
  • 8 teachers to manage the program
  • 25 students who help teachers with tasks related to Bankee, and help run the Bankee Store.

How is the program designed?

  • The program was designed based on international research and studies.
  • Close collaboration with applied child behavior analysts to determine bonuses and fines.
  • Feedback and suggestions from all those who participated in the pilot phase of the program were taken into consideration.

What are the duties and responsibilities of school teachers within the Bankee program?

  • Within the school, teachers are distinguished in two ways:
  • Bankee Teachers: 8 Teachers who are selected to facilitate and oversee Bankee at the school. Important roles they hold include:
  • They are trained to gain complete knowledge of the programme
  • They are ambassadors who run the program at the school
  • Bankee Teachers train all of the other teachers at school.
  • They manage components of the program, such as the digital platform, and the store.
  • The role of all other teachers is to run the program within their designated classrooms.

What are the duties and responsibilities of the school administration in the Bankee program?

  • Designate Bankee as an activity within the school
  • Select 8 teachers to manage Bankee at school.
  • Enroll 25 students from the fifth grade as Bankee students.
  • Allocate a designated room within the school for the bank and the store
  • To be committed to the Bankee program throughout the academic year 2023/2024.
  • To ensure the participation of all teachers and students of the school in the program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Bankee management team visits to the school.
  • Provide available facilities for students.
  • Provide a list of the required names of students and teachers.

How to enroll in Bankee?

  • Schools must apply through an online application, which gives schools an equal opportunity to enroll.
  • Schools are selected and evaluated based on specific criteria set by the Bankee management team that must be met.
  • Schools that register first get priority during the selection process.

What are important criteria for selecting schools for the Bankee Program?

  • The school administration should be cooperative and committed to implementation.
  • Teachers who are proactive and willing to participate in the program.
  • Privileges and facilities of high quality are provided by the school.
  • The allocated space to set up the Bankee store and bank follows the guidelines.
  • Establish a reliable and high-speed Wifi connection within the school.

What credentials should a Bankee Teacher have upon selection?

  • Bankee teachers must have a social personality and initiative that has a passion for learning and teaching.
  • The teacher should be organized, responsible, and able to prioritize.
  • The teacher should have the ability to follow up and perform tasks in the required time.
  • The teacher should have good oral and written communication ability.
  • The teacher should cooperate and work smoothly within the team.

Is Bankee a one-time thing?

No, Bankee is a full-year school activity; running from September to June, with yearly renewals as per the school's decision.
